Schnapszahl - 33 Jahre Mauerfall: A Reminder of Germany's Unity
The fall of the Berlin Wall occurred 33 years ago. However, it seems that many, especially young people, have forgotten that the united Federal Republic, as we know it today, did not always exist. Germany's defeat in World War II marked a significant disruption for the country, as the victorious powers divided it into two separate states. Nearly 41 years later, the fall of the wall also ended the division and paved the way for the reunification of Germany.
The intention of my work, "Schnapszahl - 33 Jahre Mauerfall," is to draw attention to the complex history of Germany. For this reason, I have developed a design of a bottle in the style of the Berlin Wall, representing the liqueur brand "Berliner Luft," which originated in the GDR. The number 33 is colloquially considered a "Schnapszahl" in German, so this design of the iconic beverage is intended to remind the younger generation of this important anniversary.
