The project "Farben der Stadt" is an engaging investigation into the process of extracting colors from natural raw materials. The outcome is a catalog showcasing a diverse range of colors obtained, along with a comprehensive description of the entire workflow. Throughout the process, numerous experiments were conducted to attain the desired color and consistency.
The working process commenced with a journey to a forest in Dresden, where a plethora of colorful materials such as mushrooms, moss, and aged bark were gathered. I focused particularly on collecting garbage to clean up the forest on the one hand and to recycle and reuse this garbage on the other. Subsequently, these materials were crushed, fragmented, and meticulously selected to procure individual color extracts. These extracts were then showcased on separate pieces of paper before being gathered into individual test tubes.
